Frequently Asked Questions

What does Haoma mean?

The haoma was a divine plant used in ancient ceremony. The first mention of the haoma can be traced back to the 5th century BC, when it was referenced in the Avesta, a collection of ancient Zoroastran texts and the only recorded form of the Avestan language. To this day, the exact botanical identity of the original haoma plant remains a mystery.

What does “plant for a plant” mean?

Every time you purchase a product from our website, we donate a portion of each sale directly to our nonprofit partners Trees.org. Every single donation plants one tree in a Forest Garden owned and operated by a farming family. Because all HAOMA products are plant-based, we think of this exchange in a circular way: A plant for a plant, every time.

What is a Citizen of Earth?

We are all Citizens of Earth! At HAOMA, we believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to be a good Citizen of Earth. That’s why we are dedicated to partnering with people and organizations who are doing the hard work that needs to be done to take care of this planet and those who inhabit it. So far we have partnered with: Terracycle to ensure that anyone can recycle all HAOMA packaging, as well as Trees.org to ensure that our customers become a part of the reforestation movement by planting a tree with each purchase.

Are your products all-natural?

Our team of herbalists and chemists work together to maximize the potency of our formulas by combining high quality plant-based ingredients with carefully selected bio-engineered compounds. Do you test your products on animals?

Do you use ingredients derived from palm oil?

We only use ingredients that are derived from 100% RSPO CSPO, and we only work with partners that can provide traceable supply chains of CSPO. If you would like to see any verification documents, please email us directly.

What does RSPO and CSPO mean?

CPSO stands for Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, which comes from plantations that voluntarily adhere to the standards set by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, or RSPO. Currently, only 20% of palm oil on the market is certified by the RSPO. To be certified, producers must be adhere to a comprehensive list of requirements including: growers and millers commit to ethical conduct in all business operations and transactions; farming practices must maintain the quality and availability of surface and groundwater; steps must be taken to minimize and control erosion and degradation of soils; new plantings are not allowed to replace primary forest, and farming practices need to maintain or improve soil fertility. These standards also require that forest is left along waterways to serve as wildlife corridors to wild areas on plantations. Known as riparian zones, these corridors also help reduce soil erosion and water pollution. Additionally, members have to prove that indigenous communities aren’t displaced, laws aren’t being broken, and that workers are paid a fair wage.
